MOST SURPRISING CROSSOVER OF THE WEEK
No doubt fuelled by the success of The Walking Dead , zombies are everywhere these days. On last week’s CSI , for example, a guy came back to life and zombie-walked his way out of the morgue. The same week, Californication featured a zombie movie film shoot. But this week’s House topped them both with a dream sequence that featured Dr Gregory House going all Resident Evil on his zombified co-workers, shooting huge chunks out of them in a hospital corridor in a sea of gory, bloody FX. “Good thing I brought my axe-cane,” he quips, before it turns into a shotgun. Milla Jovovich, eat your heart out.
But that wasn’t all. In possibly the strangest sci-fi-fan-outing on mainstream US telly, miserable medic Dr Taub admitted that he gets up at 3am to watch TV because “that's when classic Doctor Who comes on the BBC.” Note he says “classic” Who , too. Priorities!
BANDWAGON JUMPING OF THE WEEK
While we’re on the subject of zombies, they really are getting everywhere, aren’t they? In Japan they’re just about to invade the grim and gritty Yakuza series of console games ( Yakuza: Of The End ), despite the fact that the four games in the series up till now haven’t had a whiff of the supernatural about them. It’s a bit like vampires turning up in Grand Theft Auto … although, that is something we’d like to see.
