Why were there so many random holes all over the place in agent Broyles’s house in this week’s episode of Fringe ? Does he decorate by shooting at the walls? Or does the place have really bad woodworm?
FIGHT OF THE WEEK
Timothy Dalton was just brilliant in this week’s UK episode of Chuck , and he looked like he was having a whale of a time. He also gets to deliver the line of the year with schoolboyish glee: “Cool – a tiny weapons stand-off!” And no Rassilon spittle in sight. (People watching Chuck at US speed will know that the show will also win the Best Fight award again in two weeks' time)
DIET OF THE WEEK
No kidding, Dudley Dursley from the Harry Potter movies, and the young sorcerer from last Saturday’s Merlin are the same actor. That’s what we call losing your puppy fat (he’s also the grandson of Doctor Who actor Patrick Troughton – his mum was Troughton’s daughter Joanna). SFX had heard he may have slimmed down. When we interviewed Potter make-up maestro Nick Dudman he revealed that Melling had to wear a fat suit for the latest film, and also had a latex mask made to fatten up his face. Dudman did say that director David Yates wasn’t completely sure the effect was entirely successful – maybe that’s why we only see Dudley from the back in the final movie…?
TURKEY OF THE WEEK (IN BOTH SENSES)
It’s Thanksgiving in the US this week, but Dominic Monaghan came over all Morrissey on Jimmy Kimmel’s chat show singing a ditty about how the wattle-necked birds – the traditional Thanksgiving feast – “are people too”. We assume it’s supposed to be a comedy song, though it’s hard to tell, because it’s definitely more funny-peculiar than funny ha-ha. Don’t expect it to turn up on Drive Shaft’s Greatest Hits any time soon…
