SF authors to attend Stoke Newington Literary Festival

There's a strong graphic novel and genre presence at this year's festival, starting next week

As it enters its fourth year, Stoke Newington Literary Festival ( follow them on Twitter ) has taken an unashamedly geeky turn with some guests from the SFX world. The event will boast appearances by comics legend Dave Gibbons and top authors like Cory Doctorow, Kim Newman and Ben Aaronovitch, alongside other panel activities about videogame culture, cinema, comedy and food.

Stoke Newington (in north London) was home to Daniel Defoe, Marc Bolan, Mary Wollstonecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, and has been credited with the birthplace of feminism, journalism and the novel. This week the area launches its fourth annual literary event and genre fans are surprisingly well catered for. Alongside "literary bad boy" Irvine Welsh, Caitlin Moran, John Hegley and Robin Ince, you'll also encounter SF writer and editor George Mann, a collection of rare short films and extracts from the BFI's archive , Guardian critic Alex Clark and loads more. Visit the official website for ticket and programme details . Our chums at Pan Macmillan are one of the official festival sponsors this year.
