Our Sex Education season 4 review gave the season three stars, praising the arcs of certain beloved characters but critiquing a sugary sweet finale that wrapped things up a little too neatly.

"While the series should have wrapped with season 3, there's enough humor and love left in Sex Education to make this new season a journey worth taking."

The Sex Education season 4 cast saw some pretty big changes since the end of season 3, with several confirmed exits including Simone Ashley (Olivia), Patricia Allison (Ola), and Tanya Reynolds (Lily).

There are still plenty of familiar faces to be found in season 4, though. Asa Butterfield is back as Otis, with Gillian Anderson returning as Otis' sex therapist mother, Jean. Series regulars Emma Mackey (Maeve), Ncuti Gatwa (Eric), Connor Swindells (Adam), Aimee Lou Wood (Aimee), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson), Dua Saleh (Cal), Mimi Keene (Ruby), Chinenye Ezeudu (Viv), and George Robinson (Isaac) also made a comeback, along with Alistair Petrie and Samantha Spiro as Adam's parents, Michael and Maureen.

Plus, Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy joined the cast as author and professor Thomas Molloy, who's teaching Maeve over in the US, and Lisa McGrillis joins as Jean's sister Joanna. A new school also means new students, with Cavendish College's cohort being played by Anthony Lexa (Abbi), Felix Mufti (Roman), Alexandra James (Aisha), and Thaddea Graham (O).

Ahead of the season 4 premiere, 12DOVE spoke to the show's intimacy coordinator David Thackeray about his work on the show. "What's great about this show is that they have completely brought on the intimacy coordinating role as a head of department," he told us. "It's implemented from the get-go, it's not questioned… The best thing about Sex Education is these intimate scenes serve a purpose."
