Sega Rally Revo - first look

The frame-rate has yet to be locked down, so we're hoping the game will run at the gorgeous 60fps we caught glimpses of during the demo. Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast suffered from an alternating 30/60fps, which made it look messy. We want one or the other, please, Sega - not a mish-mash this time.

Above: Hopefully there will be plenty of undulation in the other tracks. This one's quite flat

Assuming we get some interesting tracks, tight racing and a silky-smooth frame-rate, Sega Rally will sell shedloads. It's a very Sega game - bright and accessible. But if you're craving a next-gen version of the original, it looks like you'll be disappointed. Just like Daytona's color palette changed and Lara Croft learned to walk properly, Sega Rally has moved on too. Buy a Sega Saturn and hide it behind your PS3 if you want. Old Sega Rally was the brilliant, unforgettable racer of the last decade. This is progress.
