Secrets of the Pokemasters

Pokemon luv shack

Are you trying to raise the perfect poke? Are the beasties you're capturing in the wild just not up to your high standards? Do you want a pokemon prodigy? If you answered yes to these questions, then you'll want to give Pokemon breeding a try.

Breeding pokemon starts with two pokes, one male and one female. You'll need to take them to the Pokemon Daycare in Solaceon and put them in the care of the old couple there. The two pokemon need to be compatible with each other in order to produce an egg. While cross-species mating is possible, it usually involves two very similar types of pokes, such as two bird-like pokemon or two small-fuzzy-mammal pokes. In other words, you're not going to get Starly and Haunter to shack up anytime soon. If you're curious about the compatibility of your pokes, ask the old man observing the yard outside. If he mentions that your pair prefers to play with other pokemon than with each other, they're totally incompatible. If he doesn't say that, there's probably an egg on the way. Here's the other things he might tell you:

"They seem to get along very well" - a 70% chance of producing an egg every 256 steps

"They seem to get along" - a 50% chance of producing an egg every 256 steps

"They don't seem to like each other" - a 20% chance of producing an egg every 256 steps

You can use the Daycare checker application on the Poketch to keep tabs on your pokes in the Daycare as you adventure elsewhere, and see if and when they've managed to produce an egg.
