Explosive Suicide Squad footage revealed at SDCC

"It's time for the bad guys," proclaimed Suicide Squad director David Ayer at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, as he prepared to show fans in Hall H the first footage from DC's upcoming supervillains-meet-espionage story.

While the footage itself hasn't been released to the Internet (yet), we can at least tell you what we saw. There were glimpses of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in restraints, performing acrobatics (and licking the poles of her cage, because um ... it's tasty, I guess?) in an insane asyulm, Will Smith's Deadshot suited up, Cara Delevinge bathing in oil and the first terrifying appearance of Jared Leto's Joker. His first line:

"I'm not going to kill you. I'm just going to hurt you really really bad."

The footage was gritty, anarchic, dark and slightly euphoric. Ayer claimed the film would please the fans. "It's all about canon," he said. "It's all about being faithful to the source material. All this good versus evil shit has played out. It's time for a movie about bad vs evil. It's time for the bad guys." And who has the best bad guys - at least, according to Ayer? DC, of course.

"I'm not trying to start a feud with Marvel comics but someone's got to say the truth!"

Suicide Squad is out August 6, 2016. We'll update this story with the panel's footage when/if it becomes available.
