Nintendo delays Scribblenauts Unlimited in Europe days before release

Nintendo has announced a fresh European delay for Scribblenauts Unlimited just days before the Wii U and 3DS game was due to hit shelves.

The publisher has yet to specify a revised launch date for the puzzle title, which was originally expected to launch in Europe in 2012 as it did in the US. Those plans were scuppered last year due to “things outside of development”, a representative from maker 5th Cell said at the time.

On the subject of the most recent delay, Nintendo said today in a statement: "We are sorry to announce that Scribblenauts Unlimited, a game developed by Warner Bros. Interactive & 5th Cell and published by Nintendo of Europe for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, will be delayed in Europe.

"It has come to light that some changes need to be implemented within the game before we launch them across Europe. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope to make further announcements on the European launch of these games very soon."

A PC version of Scribblenauts is still expected to launch in Europe on Steam on February 15, although we’ve left a message with publisher Warner for confirmation.

We said of the Wii U version of the game in our Scribblenauts Unlimited review: “Scribblenauts Unlimited is easily the best entry in the series to date, thanks to its family-friendly nature coupled with creative, wide-open gameplay. A clever toy or a focused open world adventure depending on how you want to enjoy the game, it’s an impressive first effort from 5th Cell on the Wii U.”
