The 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards took place Stateside over the weekend, and there was a definite case of déjà huh? when the prizes were given out.
Spookily echoing this year’s Golden Globes, The Hurt Locker lost out once again. This time it was up for Best Ensemble, but was pipped to the top spot by Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds .
In the Best Actor category, Jeff Bridges nabbed another prize for Crazy Heart , beating both Colin Firth ( A Single Man ) and Morgan Freeman ( Invictus ).
And Sandra Bullock again picked up the award for Best Actress in The Blind Side , seeing off competition from Helen Mirren ( The Last Station ), Carey Mulligan ( An Education ), Meryl Streep ( Julie & Julia ) and Gabourey Sidibe ( Precious ).
Were there any surprises? Hmm, not really. Christoph Waltz again scooped Best Supporting Actor for Basterds , while Mo’Nique’s turn in Precious earned her a second gong for Best Supporting Actress.
Meanwhile, Star Trek was awarded the prize for Best Ensemble Stunt, and Betty White received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ghoulish throw-backs to the Globes, indeed.
What does this mean? Well, it’s a week tomorrow that the nominations for the Oscars are released, so should we expect to see a similar line-up there?
