Scott Derrickson in contention to direct Doctor Strange
Mark Andrews and Jonathan Levine also linked
Doctor Strange appears to have added a new name to its directorial shortlist, with Sinister director Scott Derrickson the latest candidate to be linked to the gig.
We had previously reported that Mark Andrews, Jonathan Levine, Nikolaj Arcel and Dean Israelite were all in the running for the position, with Marvel actively looking to make an appointment in the near future.
Intriguingly, THR reporter Borys Kit has tweeted that Andrews and Levine are still in the mix, suggesting that this may now be a three-horse race between those two and Derrickson.
Derrickson’s background is largely horror-centric, although whether that indicates that Marvel is going down the macabre route for their Doctor Strange adaptation, remains to be seen.
All of this is supposition at this stage, but expect some more concrete info once Marvel gets through with its Captain America publicity push…
