Scoot McNairy's role in Batman v Superman is revealed (again)
It seems like only last month when we learned who Scoot McNairy was playing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That's because it was. That report made a convincing argument for McNairy as an unnamed pawn in Lex Luthor's scheme to bring down the two heroes. It also disproved the whole 'he's definitely Jimmy Olsen' theory that's been doing the rounds for a while. So, yay. And now we know his name: Wallace Keefe.
Who? He's not a character taken from DC's comics universe, meaning he was created just for the movie. So what's his involvement in the story? In the footage revealed so far he's spotted gazing up at a statue of Superman, and also features in the senate hearing scene where Holly Hunter is chewing out Supes. In a spot of very fortuitous timing, a new clip just dropped online from that precise moment. Check it out below:
Damn. He looks angry, doesn't he? This definitely syncs up with what we heard last month: McNairy plays a guy confined to a wheelchair due to damage inflicted in the Metropolis battle. That would explain this 'you bastard' look he's giving Supes:
Apparently, Luthor steps in and uses Wallace Keefe's frustration toward the Man of Steel to weaponise him. He pretty much turns him into a walking, talking bomb - but Keefe doesn't know it. He just thinks Luthor's given him a bad-ass metallic suit.
Either way, it's still all unverified right now what McNairy's character will do. At least we know that he's not playing Jimmy Olsen. According to a recent cast update on the movie's IMDB page, the Daily Planet reporter is played by Michael Cassidy (Argo). But that's not the best part of those edits. Apparently... *whispers* Patrick Wilson's playing the President. Well, he might be. Even though his name is listed his involvement is unconfirmed by the studio, along with Callan Mulvey playing KGBeast, and Ralph Lister playing Emmet Vale (the scientist who later creates Metallo). Still, it's pretty exciting, no?
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25, 2016.
