Oktoberfest 2010, the London-based sci-fi film festival dedicated to all things out of this world, has revealed its full line-up.
Taking place over the weekend beginning 14 October, Oktoberfest will include screenings of Gareth Edwards’ excellent Monsters , the original Tron and cult classic Douglas And The Blue (all at the Apollo Piccadilly Circus), making sure this year’s festival is a certified winner.
Alongside other screenings, the event will include stand-up comedy in the form of Rob Deb’s ‘Well They Look Like Aliens!’, while there’s gameplaywith Alien Among Us.
Guest speakers include Dr. Kerstin Dautenhahn, who is Professor of Artificial Intelligent of the University of Hertfordshire and is doing pioneering work in robot social learning. She will introduce us to two KASPAR robots that are being used for studies into educational benefits.
Authors Tony Ballantyne and Tom Hunter will also be present.
On top of all that, there are also various All-nighters taking place, including nights dedicated to Studio Ghibli, Anime and Mystery Science Theatre 3000. The Del Toro All-nighter promises a night of “bugs, beasts and brutes” with screenings of Pan’s Labyrinth, Cronos, The Devil’s Backbone and, uh, Mimic .
