Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week
Don’t be a mug – listen to Steven Ellis and you could save money on your sci-fi goodies
Hello good day and welcome to this week’s SFX Friday bargains round-up.
First off we have an item which we saw in every shop and on every website we visited this week. The Raimi Spider-Man trilogy Blu-ray box-set. Amazon has it for £8.97 , but it can also be found at Asda, Zavvi , Morrison’s and Tesco and they all have it on sale for under a tenner. We think they all may have ordered a few too many copies.
Next we have a few things from Amazon’s “Deals Of The Week.” First a limited edition steel box-set of Doctor Who series five which Amazon are selling for £19.97 on DVD .
We also saw the complete Earth2 boxed set on DVD for £24.49 and Joss Whedon’s Doll House seasons one and two on Blu-ray for £15.97 .
Over on Play.com we found Kate Beckinsale in all her PVC glory with the Underworld Quadrilogy DVD boxed set which is available for £17.99 .
Our own Ian Berriman found season two of Heroes on Blu-ray for just £6.99 from Sendit.
Bond star Daniel Craig’ s spooky trailer-gave-away-the-plot-twist film Dream House can be yours on Blu-ray triple play for £9.85 or if you just want the DVD then that’ll cost you £7.99 .

We also found pie-making hijinks with Pushing Daisies . You can pick up season one of the show on DVD for £7.99 and season two for £13 .
On our trip round the supermarkets we managed to take in Asda, Morrison’s and Tesco this week. In Tesco we found The Iron Giant, Inception, Sucker Punch and an Ultimate Avengers animated collection for £5 each on DVD and Demolition Man and Sphere on DVD for £3 each.
In Morrison’s we spotted Mars Attacks, Zombieland, Daredevil, The Terminator and the Nick Cage starring Wicker Man remake on DVD for £3 each. We also found The Matrix and the two-disc Blade Runner Final Cut set on DVD for £5 each.
Over in Asda there was Ghostbusters one and two in a DVD set for £5 , Jumanji and Despicable Me for £3 each and The Incredibles for £5 . We also found Hugo and Dream House for £7 each. On the TV DVD front we spotted Teen Wolf season one for £16.97 . Although if the original comedy movie is more to your taste, Amazon has a double DVD featuring both films for £4.55 .
In Asda’s Blu-ray aisle we saw Battle LA for £5 and Super 8 and Superman Returns for £8 each. You can still pick up Batman Begins/The Dark Knight two-set from Asda as well. The sets are £10 for the DVD and £14.97 for the Triple play Blu-ray, which is cheaper then we saw them anywhere else.
From the forum this week we had Wyngarde telling us about the Doctor Who Revisitations boxed sets. Amazon have volume one , volume two and volume three all selling for £18.97 each. Wyngarde also spotted Speed Racer on Blu-Ray for £3.95 , if you like that sort of thing.
Bargains regular Midnighter found a selection of animated superhero adventures; his local Morrison’s had Spectacular Spider-Man volume 2 and Men in Black: The Animated Series volumes 1 & 2 for £3 each.
Meanwhile Kevinj, Quinny and Nighttrain were all talking about the range of cheap comic character T-shirts available from Asda. The range includes Batman, Spider Man, Captain America and Captain Britain T-Shirts all for between £7 and £4 each. Pop in and check ’em out.
Staying with T-shirts, Play have a few designs that may be of interest to you. We found this garish Joker T-shirt for £12.99 and this lady’s Hunger Games shirt for £13.99 .
Totally Funky have some superhero-themed cufflinks. We saw designs featuring the Batman Logo and the Superman logo for £16.99 a set. Perfect for those subtle displays of geekery.
A little something for those Chinese take-away nights next, as long as the items in question don’t put you off your food first. Play have a selection of Alien themed chopsticks. We spotted Xenomorph , Chestburster and Facehugger designs for just £8.99 each.
Something for the younger sci-fi fan next; this Yoda bath robe is on sale at £11.99 from Firebox. Perfect for the Padawan in your life.
Finally this week we’re revisiting the R2D2 mug we showed you a few weeks back. It was pretty popular when we first featured it and now the lovely little item has dropped lower in price to £14.99 .
