Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s SFX bargain round up. It’s that time of the week when we shower you with the latest cheap sci-fi finds. Check it out; we might have just what you’re looking for…
First up we’ll remind you of a couple of offers still running; Play has its 2 Blu-rays for £10 offer still on, including such title as The Fog, Flash Gordon and Mimic . Zavvi has a games offer on: 2 Games for £25 , with a range of titles over various platforms including Portal 2, Lego Harry Potter and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 amongst others.
Asda still has its promotion on Disney DVDs and Blu-rays running. DVDs are 2 for £15 and Blu-rays are 2 for £20 , with films such as Wall-E, The Incredibles and Monsters, Inc , as well as many other classic titles available. Amazon is still running its slightly cheaper Disney offers as well; click here for the 2 Blu-rays for the £16 page and here for the 2 DVDs for £13.99 page. Steven Armstrong on Facebook told us Disney is running the same offer in-store but its prices are £12.99 for 2 DVDs and £16.99 for 2 Blu-rays.
From Amazon this week we have a few TV suggestions for you, starting with The 4400 ; this boxed set including all four seasons, is available on DVD for £22.97 .
Next we have last year’s excellent BBC ghost drama The Fades on DVD for £8.97 . The Blu-ray is also available for £15.99 .
Also from Amazon we have a selection of Star Trek Fan Collective box-sets. First up is the Time Travel set, including twelve of the best timey whimey Trek adventures on DVD for £12.97 . Also available are the Borg box-set for £9.99 , the Alternate Realities set for £14.97 and the Q set for just £4.49 .
Next up we have a couple of complete box-sets for you. Not cheap exactly but definitely good value for money. The complete seven season boxed set of Deep Space Nine can be yours on DVD for £55.97 and the Battlestar Galactic Blu-ray box-set, including the mini-series, the Razor TV movie and all four-and-a-half seasons of the rebooted show is £61.97 .

Our weekly wander round the supermarkets took in Asda and Morrison’s this week. In Asda we saw the gorgeously-animated film 9 for £5 . Other animated films we saw were Despicable Me also for £5 and Robots for £3 . And if you fancy some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action while they still have all the words in the title, Asda has the excellent 2007 TMNT animated film for just £3 . The Thing prequel was spotted for £9 , while Contagion is still only a tenner .
The Blu-ray shelves were pretty much the same as last week: Psycho for £5 , The Adjustment Bureau, The Lost Boys and the individual Back To The Future movies for £10 each. With the addition of Paul for £8 and a The Thing double-pack including the new film and Carpenter’s ’80s version for £21.97 , this set is also available on DVD for £16.97 . Amazon of course has the set cheaper at just £17.99 for the Blu-ray version.
Over the road in Morrison’s they still have a bunch of Reel Hero limited edition cover DVDs including Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, Kick Ass, The Hulk and Wanted , all for £5 each. Also on the DVD shelves we saw The Day After Tomorrow, Babylon AD, Daywatch, District 9 and I Am Legend for £3 each and the latest Star Trek film and Alien Vs Predator for £4 each. On the TV front we spotted series one of the BBC’s Sherlock for £6 , again on DVD.
From the forum this week regular bargain hunter Radical Edward brought us a selection of DVD ideas; all four Terminator films in a box-set for £11.99 ; The Matrix Ultimate collection for £10.95 , Gabriel, Legion and Priest in a triple-set for £7.45 and finally this Alien Vs Predator box-set for just £5.47 .
Midnighter brought news that Tesco has a selection of DVDs at half-price including the recent Conan remake for £5 , Resident Evil: Afterlife for £3.50 and the 2010 Clash Of The Titans for £2.50 .
A.L. found Supernatural season six on DVD from Amazon for £13.47 .
Deornoth picked up three Doctor Who books ( Night Of The Humans , Apollo 23 and The Forgotten Army ) in a shrink-wrapped box set for £3 in his local WHSmiths.
Knappos told us he bought both paperback volumes of A Dance With Dragons in Asda’s 2 for £7 offer. We also spotted all three of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games books in the same offer. Midnighter said his local branch of WHSmith had them as one their half price offers of the week and with the addition of the token from the latest issue of SFX he managed to pick the pair up for just £4.50.
Silverfox 67 this week told us we should check out the Kindle sci-fi book listings page on Amazon as there are always bargains to be had there. He didn’t have specific titles for us but said that there is always something cheap or free to be found if you check the page a few times a week.
Over on Play this week we spotted a few cool geeky T-shirts. Let’s hope we don’t jinx the weather by showing you these. First off this Stormtrooper design was just £8.99 and these Boba Fett and Slave one Haynes tees were £8.99 and £7.49 .
Something for the Doctor Who fans next with this Dalek shirt for £6.49 or this fourth Doctor shirt for £5.99 .
We also saw a couple of ladies’ shirts; this Batman design is £8.99 and this Wonder Woman top for just £5 .
This week’s random ideas include this Alien ice cube tray from Play for £8.99 and a Luke Skywalker Replica Lightsaber at £89.99 (Reduced from £120 ).
Play a game of Snap with these lovely Game of Thrones playing cards , a steal at £3.99 .
Radical Edward was back with a few random Doctor Who suggestions; he spotted this Dalek bottle opener for £7.99 and you can liven up any breakfast table with this eggcellent Eggsterminator egg cup for £4.73 .
