Save Dollhouse Campaign

Joss Whedon shows have been trailblazers in many ways, but his next project - Dollhouse – is breaking the mould already in a very odd way... with fans campaigning to save the show eight months before it has even been broadcast.

Even though the show has been guaranteed a seven episode run by Fox, fans at dollhouseforums.com have become so used to seeing their favourite shows (including Whedon’s own Firefly) cancelled because of low viewing figures that they’re organising an awareness campaign to give the show a boost when it airs.

“The overall idea is to encourage Joss/Buffy/Angel/Firefly fans to promote the show everywhere in addition to FOX's usual promotional/viral methods,” posts site administrator Nathan on the forum.

A Facebook fan page dedicated to the online campaign already has nearly 1,500 members. But some fans are worried that an "in your face" campaign could actually put people off the show. They’d clearly never make it as Hollywood marketing gurus. Can you imagine Paramount going, “No, I don’t think we should have Harrison Ford’s face on every billboard in the world – it might put people off going to see Indy 4.”?
