Superman Returns was cream of the crop in the 33rd Saturn Award nominations announced today. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films handed Bryan Singer's Man of Steel resurrection 10 nominations, including Best Fantasy Film and Best Actor for Brandon Routh.
Pan's Labyrinth and (perhaps more surprisingly) X-Men: The Last Stand were second most popular, with six noms apiece, while Casino Royale and Pirates of the Caribbean bagged five. Daniel Craig has been given a chance to make up for his Bafta disappointment in the Best Actor category.
On the small screen, Heroes , Lost and Smallville will fight it out for Best Network TV Series, while Battlestar Galactica and Stargate SG-1 head up the cable category. Nominations for Doctor Who and Life on Mars help keep the British end up.
The awards will be presented in California on 10 May. For a full list of nominations, click here .
