Samsara review

Twenty years after Baraka , his last globe-trotting banquet for the senses, Ron Fricke returns with a sequel of sorts... or, Samsara being a Sanskrit word for the circle of existence, a cyclical continuation.

Four years in the making, Fricke’s film is a non-verbal tour of the rituals and patterns that define life on earth – in cities, remote landscapes, a Tibetan monastery, and in a chicken-processing factory filmed like a Busby Berkeley musical.

Jaw-dropping in colour and splendour, but if the constant awe gets a bit tiring, at its best you can genuinely feel some great wheel turning.
