Russell Brand may have played a rocker in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek , but he’s still interested in music-related movie roles, having shown an interest in joining musical Rock Of Ages .
This time, though, he’d have less of a singing role, playing manager Lonnie, who runs rock club The Bourbon. The club itself is owned by Dennis, a role that Alec Baldwin is being linked to.
If the film sticks to the blueprint of the original stage musical, Lonnie and Dennis share a duet of ‘I Can’t Fight This Feeling’. Brand and Baldwin rocking out together? That’s something we’d like to see.
Rock Of Ages is currently being set up by director Adam Shankman, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Tom Cruise both considering lead roles. Shooting is set to kick off in May.
Just a thought: surely Mr Brand is more suited to something like We Will Rock You ?
