Rumour: Wonder Woman movie to be first in a trilogy?
Solo spin-off thought to be 1920’s-set prequel
With Wonder Woman finally getting her own solo movie, the rumour mill has already clanked into gear regarding exactly what form the spin-off will take, with Bleeding Cool suggesting that the film will be a prequel.
According to the report, the film will be set long before Batman v Superman (where Gal Gadot’s character is set to make her on-screen debut), with the first half of the story taking place on Paradise Island, where various Amazonian factions are at war.
Things are then shaken up by the arrival of a man on the island, with Wonder Woman eventually returning home with him to the world of man. Once there, she is forced to adapt to 1920s life, where women’s rights aren’t quite as advanced as she might have anticipated…
The report goes on to claim that the film will be the first in a trilogy, with a sequel set around the time of WW2, before an eventual third film would bring the action up to date with the rest of the Justice League.
All of which sounds like a sensible way of approaching the character, with Warner set to dig deep into her origins after having her jostle for screen-time with Batman, Superman, Aquaman et al.
Wonder Woman will open in the US on 23 June 2017, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.
