Rumour: Guardians Of The Galaxy roles revealed for Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan and Lee Pace?
Introducing the bad guys...
Guardians Of The Galaxy may well be boasting a trio of villains, with Den Of Geek claiming to know the identities of the parts to be played by Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan and Lee Pace.
According to the site, del Toro will play The Collector, the curator of a vast museum of various life forms, designed to protect them from the mass destruction wreaked by the villainous Thanos.
If that sounds quite well-intentioned, it’s worth noting that The Collector is usually presented as a villain, and we’d expect that to be the case here as well.
Meanwhile, Lee Pace is thought to be playing Ronan the Accuser, part of the alien Kree race and son of Thanos. Continuing the connect to the aforementioned big bad will be Gillan’s character, Nebula, a space pirate claiming to be Thanos’ granddaughter.
Whether or not these casting predictions turn out to be accurate remains to be seen, but they all appear to link Guardians Of The Galaxy with Thanos, last seen in the post-credits sting at the end of The Avengers and widely presumed to be the villain in that film’s sequel.
Expect clarification from Marvel at Comic-Con later this month. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians Of The Galaxy will open in the UK on 1 August 2014.
