Rumor: Ben Affleck to direct The Batman
Another superhero rumor has hit the web, this time concerning the status of Warner Bros./DC’s caped crusader. The folks over at Latino Review have scored intel claiming that the Batman spinoff - aptly titled The Batman - has secured a writer, a director AND a release date.
If the report is correct, then Ben Affleck won’t simply be donning the Batsuit again - he is also on board to direct his solo movie. After his success behind the lens on Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Batfleck to do double duty. In addition Argo scribe Chris Terrio, who wrote Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and is down to pen the Justice League movies, is also linked to the tentative production.
Apparently, the movie’s release is nestled between the two-part Justice League movie event, which currently has the first chapter opening in 2017 and the second in 2019, making it a solid contender for the 2018 superhero movie crown. Or at least a gritty rival for Captain Marvel.
