Rockstar releases Grand Theft Auto III 10th anniversary promotional video
10 years of murder, arson, and, of course, carjacking
To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III, Rockstar has released a promotional video with footage of the decade-old classic. The video doesn't promote anything, really, or tease a new announcement. It doesn't end with a surprise revelation of an HD remake of GTA III or anything like that. Instead, it does one thing: reminds us why we loved the game so much back in 2001.
That said, we certainly wouldn't mind an HD remake of the game. Right now the closest thing we can do is play the PC version, but the textures from 2001 could certainly use some cleaning up. We'd also love to see multiplayer modes added – for as great as the competitive combat was in Grand Theft Auto IV, we can't help but think the speed of GTA III would make for even more hectic fun.
We’ve been celebrating Grand Theft Auto III’s anniversary all week, talking to developers about their thoughts on the series and listing the Top 7 Ways Grand Theft Auto III changed gaming. We have more awesome GTA coverage lined up all week, too, so stick around while we remember the game that created a genre.
