Rockstar parent files new Agent trademarks

It might not be willing to publicly discuss the game, but publisher Take-Two has filed two new trademark registrations for Rockstar North’s Agent, a title we’ve heard next to nothing about since its formal announcement as a PS3-exclusive at E3 2009. Originally spotted by Siliconera, the trademarks were filed on July 18. One is for the game’s name and the other is for its logo, which you can see above, courtesy of Rockstar’s Agent website, which has listed the title as “coming soon” since June 2009.

According to its original announcement: “Agent takes players on a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970s.” Rockstar founder Sam Houser also said: "With Agent we are making what we believe will be the ultimate action game. The team in Edinburgh is doing an amazing job combining intense action, atmosphere and story in a great period setting to create something that feels quite unique. We cannot wait for people to experience this game."

In May 2011, Take-Two confirmed that Agent was still in development. Two months later, what appeared to be the first image of the game appeared online via an artist’s resume. Take-Two’s latest official non-comment on the title came in August 2012 when CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the project. "We haven't announced anything about that title," he said. Last month, we named Agent as one of 6 games we expect never to see the light of day, not on PS3 anyway.
