Grand Theft Auto III is turning 10 on October 22, and to celebrate, Rockstar is re-releasing its seminal sandbox crime title for iOS and Android devices, as well as rare GTA III collectibles through its online warehouse.
The mobile ports, which will make an appearance at this week's Comic Con in New York, will only be available for select Apple and Android products. Judging by Rockstar's official list of supported devices, Apple fans will need the latest gear to partake in the Liberty City revival. Check it out to see if you've got the goods:
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S
Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
In addition to the re-releases, Rockstar is stocking its online warehouse with GTA III memorabilia throughout October. The first, available now, is a limited edition 1:6 scale Claude action figure, complete with prison jumpsuit and an arsenal of GTA III weapons. It is currently retailing for $149.99, however Rockstar is giving away three for free through a Social Club promotion.
Reflecting on GTA III's 10th Anniversary celebrations, Rockstar founder Sam Houser said: "Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games. It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since."
