Roberto Orci to direct Star Trek 3?
Paramount thought to have tapped screenwriter for directorial debut
After weeks of rumours concerning Roberto Orci's reported interest in directing Star Trek 3 , Variety is claiming that Paramount has offered him exactly what he wants…
According to the report, Orci has received an offer from the studio to head up the film, having been recommended by long-time collaborator J.J. Abrams.
Orci is already helping to write the screenplay alongside J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, while Abrams will be returning to produce, having been forced by scheduling issues to relinquish the director's chair.
Orci recently split from long-time writing partner Alex Kurtzman in order to pursue new opportunities, and has long been thought to have been nursing directorial aspirations.
Paramount has yet to announce official confirmation as yet, with the film expected to land in cinemas some time in 2016.
