Robert Redford and Shia LaBeouf to star in The Company You Keep
Redford will also direct the political thriller
Robert Redford and Shia LaBeouf will star in The Company You Keep , a political action thriller that Redford will also direct.
Lem Dobbs, screenwriter of Dark City , The Limey and Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Haywire , is adapting the script from Neil Gordon’s novel, according to a report by Variety.
LaBeouf will play a budding journo who uncovers the identity of a former militant wanted by the FBI, forcing him to go on the run.
A statement from producer Nicolas Chartier makes Company sound like it’ll have Redford’s trademark political edge:
“This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country’s ideals against the government.”
Redford's last two directorial efforts, Lions For Lambs and The Conspirator , have failed to whip audiences (or critics) into a frenzy, so perhaps he’s hoping LaBeouf can bring some of the Transformers market with him.
