Robert Rankin to host SFX Sci-Fi Awards 2012

Top author returns to SFX Weekender in February by popular demand

Yes, the rumours are true: Robert Rankin is back by popular demand. The best-selling novelist, and wife Rachel, will be back to present the awards at next year's SFX Weekender in Prestatyn.

The Saturday nights awards - for which voting began today - have in previous years amassed over 200,000 votes. They remain a popular part of the event and Robert Rankin has twice proved to be a highlight of the proceedings.

"The lovely wife and I are thrilled to be invited to host the SFX Awards ceremony next year," Robert told us. "It is an absolute honour to do this and the Weekender is definitely one of the all-time high points of our year. Wonderful people. Wonderful fun. Simply wonderful. Thank you all for asking us back!"

Taking place from 2 to 5 February 2012, the Weekender has moved on from its usual haunt to the new bigger and better location of Prestatyn Sands, North Wales. Boasting a packed line-up of events including The Maskerade Ball, Blastermind Quiz and The Imaginarium, along with Craig Charles once again taking to the decks it'll be another geekend to remember.

Voting in the SFX Awards couldn't be simpler and there's the prize of a VIP chalet up for grabs - see the voting page for details. It may seem a while off yet, but the VIP, Gold Plus and Gold tickets are selling fast, so book tickets now to avoid disappointment.
