Rise of the Tomb Raider's tombs are useful this time around

While the actual tombs in Lara's last outing were fun enough, there weren't terribly many of them and none delivered anything particularly useful. The rewards were more like decorations for Croft Manor when new Lara eventually gets that far. This time things are different though. Rise Of The Tomb Raider delivers far more puzzling tomb-shaped delights and they even hand over useful gear.

“We have more Challenge tombs, and they’re also more robust as far as an experience goes,” confirms game director Brian Horton in the latest copy of Official Xbox Magazine. “Getting into them is interesting; solving them is more challenging; and just that journey of getting lost in a big exploration space and discovering them, it really has a nice feeling of reward.”

And while that feeling of reward is nice, what's even nicer is a better arsenal. “The rewards you get from them isn’t just a checkbox that says, ‘Hey, you got a Challenge tomb’,” says Horton. “They’re really going to be something that can help the player in the game.” Lo and behold, OXM earns a bow and arrow upgrade that means firing two arrows in quick succession. The good news is we only need to wait a few more days to find out for what else we can pillage. Rise Of The Tomb Raider is out on Xbox One on November 10th.
