This weekend we were saddened to hear that of the deaths of two names in the world of SF and fantasy.
Well-known British actor George Sewell passed away of cancer on Sunday 2 April, aged 82.
His biggest role was probably in the 1973 cop show Special Branch, but he's fondly-remembered by SF fans for his role as Colonel Alec Freeman in the Gerry Anderson series UFO. He also guest-starred in the 1989 Doctor Who story "Remembrance of the Daleks".
Wednesday 5 April saw the tragic death of writer/director Bob Clark, killed in a car crash (together with his son), aged 57. Clark is known amongst horror afficianados for 1974's Black Christmas, an early slasher movie often credited with providing a template for the genre, and for the zombie horror films Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things and Deathdream. The driver of the car which crashed into him is now facing charges of manslaughter, driving under the influence, and driving without a licence.
