Ridley Scott set for Nottingham
Universal plan a redux of Robin Hood
Perhaps his evil, blood stained booties were just too big to fill, we’re not sure, but following Alan Rickman’s iconic turn as the Sheriff of Nottingham, cinema’s most charismatic villain is getting his own movie, and this time he’s a good guy…well, kinda.
Ridley Scott is set to direct Nottingham, an unorthodox recital of the Robin Hood tale. Russell Crowe will reportedly play the role of the sheriff, who works under a corrupt king. It's also rumoured that he'll be caught up in a messy 'Pacey, Joey and Dawson' love triangle with Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
The picture has been scribed by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, the creators of the US series Sleeper Cell.
There is no release date yet, as Scott is to begin production after he has finished shooting Body of Lies, a CIA thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
