This unsettling document ary follows a US infantry platoon stationed for 15 months in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border.
Filmmakers Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger lived with the men, ate with them, ducked bullets with them, did everything but shoot back at the enemy.
We see the guys horse around, talk about their dead comrades, break down and weep.
Built around hand-held reportage, the film passes no judgement on the rightness or otherwise of the occupation.
But the sense of bewilderment and futility speaks for itself.
