Respawn Entertainment hires Star Wars artist for upcoming mystery title
New game from ex-Infinity Ward heads is “the most exhilarating experience I’ve ever had in my career,” says artist
Respawn Entertainment, the company formed by former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella after their acrimonious split with Activision, haven't yet announced what their studio’s debut title will be. However, the project has just gained the talents of designer Iain McCaig, whose past work includes concept artwork on films such as Terminator 2, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and the new Star Wars movies. McCaig's previous work in games goes back as far as design credits on Star Control 2 and the original Monkey Island.
McCaig, whose work includes a number of yet-to-be-released titles, toldDevelop magazinethe new collaboration with West/Zampella was “the most exhilarating experience I’ve ever had in my career.” While details regarding the game are highly secretive – Activision's lawsuit targeting them and their new patrons, Electronic Arts, was due to go to court this week but is still in preliminary litigation – it's thought that the title, for which McCaig was approached by Respawn, may be going into production soon if it hasn't already. What would you like to see from the Infinity Ward exes?
