Capcom has confirmed plans to release home console and PC versions of Resident Evil Revelations in the US on May 21 and in the UK on May 24.
The update of 2012’s Nintendo 3DS game will launch on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC with HD visuals, enhanced lighting effects and improved audio. In addition to a retail release, a digital version will be available upon release on PS3 and PC priced at $49.99, and later on Xbox 360 and Wii U.
The home console version will also offer additional content over the original and PC edition in the form of a new enemy, an extra difficulty mode and improvements to Raid mode, which tasks online or co-op players with fighting their way through a selection of maps whilst levelling up characters and earning weapon upgrades. These will include new weapons and skill sets, plus the chance to play as Hunk and other characters from the series.
Resident Evil Revelations will also take advantage of Residentevil.net, the free online service which offers bonus content, stat-tracking, community events, rewards and social media integration.
We said in our Resident Evil Revelations review: “Out of everything available on the 3DS, Resident Evil Revelations is a high profile effort that stands above most of the software you’ll find out there. The thoroughly M-rated adventure fulfills nearly every desire of RE fans, simultaneously fitting the new handheld perfectly thanks to a new episodic approach to storytelling. It’s not a huge leap forward for the series, but it does prove that even on a handheld, Resident Evil can still be a good time.”
