Resi 5 and SFIV invade PlayStation Home
Want to dress like Chun Li? Do it in Home and keep your friends!
PlayStation Home is finally getting interesting, if these screens from Japan are anything to go by. In celebration of the release of Resident Evil 5, Capcom and Sony have teamed up to offer a Resident Evil 5-themed lobby area, and it looks amazing. In fact, it's just like the game, only with zombie-like avatars instead of virus-infected villagers.
Looks great, doesn't it? However, the same can't really be said for the other bit of Capcom-related Home content:
It appears you can make your avatar look like a cosplay version of Ryu! You know what would have been cooler? The actual Ryu character model from the game, not just Ryu-alike clothes for your straight-backed, weedyavatar man. Imagine being able to walk around and Hadoken your fellow gamers in the lobby. It would have been great. Still, there are some SFIV character models to be collected as well, as you can see on the table.
Very cool. There are also Resi 5 statues to collect, although it's unclear from the Japanese translation whether these are trophy-related or simply available for purchase. Seeing as you can buy items already, we'd bet on the latter.
And then of course there's the Chun Li outfit - guranteed to get Kens and Ryus doing the Running Man around you wherever you roam.
Check out thisJapanese sitefor the rest of the screens, then get saving your micropayments in your microwallet. However, without wanting to spoil the party, we should point out that none of this Capcom loveliness has been confirmed for the UK or the US yet. But having put so much effort into making something so desirable for Home, it's got to be a question of 'when', not 'if'. Fingers crossed.
