Red Dwarf X Competition: win some fan-smegging-tastic prizes in our massive giveaway
When Red Dwarf VIII aired in 1999 few would have predicted that a staggering 13 years would pass until a brand new, six-episode, series would make its way to TV. Fortunately the wait between the TV broadcast and the home cinema release is mercifully shorter, mere weeks in fact, as Red Dwarf X is released on DVD and Blu-ray on 19 November 2012.
Written and directed by series co-creator Doug Naylor, Red Dwarf X returns to the show’s roots by filming in front of a live audience and adopting the 30-minute sitcom format of series I-VIII. The only differences are the cast have a few more wrinkles (including Kryten, weirdly), the effects are swankier and you can now enjoy the Red Dwarf in crisp HD on Blu-ray.
As is customary for all Red Dwarf releases, the DVD is packed with special features, including a superb two-hour making of “We’re Smegged” which covers the return of the series and all six episodes in detail, 28 minutes of deleted scenes (with director’s commentary), and 13 minutes of Smeg Ups.
To celebrate the release of Red Dwarf X on DVD and Blu-ray we’ve teamed up with BBC Worldwide to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a collection of money-can’t buy items from the set of Red Dwarf X . The incredible prize package includes:
A panel of the Red Dwarf model ship signed by the cast
A signed, full colour, mounted print of the SS Trojan set from the Art Department
Series I – VIII on DVD, signed by Cast
A signed copy of Back To Earth
A Red Dwarf X poster exclusively signed by Doug Naylor
Red Dwarf X on DVD or Blu-ray
