Lego Batman finds its Alfred in Ralph Fiennes
The role of Bruce Wayne's devoted butler and surrogate parent, Alfred Pennyworth, requires a certain acting pedigree, with the likes of Michael Caine and Jeremy Irons having taken on the part in the past. That tradition looks destined to continue in the LEGO Batman movie: THR reports that Ralph Fiennes, aka Voldemort, is voicing the character for the Warner Bros. LEGO Movie and Batman spinoff.
The Potter stalwart joins Chris Arnett, who reprises his role as the gravelly voiced caped crusader, Michael Cera as his sidekick, Robin, and Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Still engaged in talks to play the Joker is Zach Galifianakis. Chris McKay takes over directing duties from Phil Lord and Chris Miller, after serving as the animation supervisor on the first movie. Lord and Miller will return to produce.
Fiennes is currently on the big screen as Bond boss M in Spectre, and he'll be seen next in the Coens' Hollywood period comedy, Hail, Caesar! His vocal stylings will be showcased afterward when the LEGO Batman movie opens in the UK and the US on February 10, 2017.
