Raimi to direct Nemesis?

Comic writer Mark Millar has a new series coming out in March called Nemesis .

And, seeing as this is the creator/writer of Wanted and Kick-Ass , both of which have taken the long road to the big screen, it's natural to assume that this new comic adventure will also get a cinematic adapation.

Well, Millar thinks so too. And he's already got a couple of directors in mind.

According to a post on Millar's blog, Sam Raimi and Guy Ritchie are names that are currently being floated to direct a film interpretation of Nemesis .

At the moment, though, this appears to be pure speculation on his part. The movie adaptation hasn’t, by all accounts, even been greenlit yet. And the comics themselves, drawn by frequent Millar collaborator Steve McNiven, don’t hit the shelves until March this year.

Still, since Millar’s other projects have all made it to the big screen, expect Nemesis to follow suit.

It’s the story of the titular Nemesis, the world’s smartest man - imagine if instead of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman, he became The Joker.

“The bad news for us is that he’s the world’s only super-villain,” says Millar. “That means he’s got freeze guns and jump-jets and all these James Bond gadgets and he’s using them against us.

“To entertain himself, he picks a different cop every year and makes his life a misery. The book opens with him fucking over Japan’s top cop, and then our story, the mini-series, takes place as he shifts his attention to Washington and his first American attacks.”

Sounds pretty bad-ass.
