An R rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is on the way
Tis the season for superhero movies with restricted ratings. Thanks, Deadpool. The good news is that an R rated 'Ultimate Edition' of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is inbound according to the Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) in the US. The bad is that it's not the main cinema release.
The listing on Filmratings shows a Restricted rating due to 'sequences of violence.' There's also a note that this is different from the PG-13 version which is the release we'll be getting in cinemas. I'd expect this Ultimate Edition to surface on some kind of special edition Blu-Ray.
It's not long to go until we get to see the ultimate face off between Bats and Supes and the Dawn Of Justice run time was revealed earlier this week. My advice is to buy a small cinema drink or you're going to be uncomfortable for a chunk of the 151 minute superhero off.
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25, 2016.
