Quests, combat, and everything else that's changed in Assassin's Creed Origins

Assassin's Creed's yearly entries were admirable, but by Unity it was clear that the formula had gotten a bit stale. The series took a year off to collect its bearings, and the result is the upcoming Assassin's Creed Origins, and the Egyptian setting isn't the only thing that's different this time around. Our own Louise Blain got an extended hands-on look at the game at E3 this year, and from the sounds of the video above, it sounds like everything you thought you knew about Assassin's Creed has changed.

Origins is set in a sprawling open world this time around - no more separate map screens. And rather than getting access to a map filled with icons, you'll find quests on your radar similar to games like Skyrim, and you'll use your trusty hawk to scout out the landscape for important landmarks or to track enemies. And of course, all of this is delivered in beautiful 4K on the Xbox One X. Check out the video above for a rundown for everything that's changed, or watch us play 30 minutes of the game here.

David Roberts lives in Everett, WA with his wife and two kids. He once had to sell his full copy of EarthBound (complete with box and guide) to some dude in Austria for rent money. And no, he doesn't have an amiibo 'problem', thank you very much.
