The PS5 launch games lineup has now been cemented in history, seeing as the PS5 officially got released in November 2020. The lineup of PS5 launch games was pretty strong, seeing us set with some fantastic day one titles to tuck into on your shiny new PS5. From leaping about as a Viking in Assassin's Creed Valhalla to swinging through buildings in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and jumping around in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, there really is something for everyone here. What's more, the PlayStation Plus Collection games will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers too.
If you managed to get your PS5 pre-order in, you'll be able to look forward to these PS5 launch games very soon, along with a whole helping of PS4 games confirmed to get a free PS5 upgrade.

Below you'll find all the confirmed PS5 launch games - not including those that are getting upgraded to a PS5 version - either for free or for a fee. We'll be updating this page as more information comes in, so keep checking back.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Set one year after the end of the last Insomniac Spider-Man game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will see how Miles is adapting to his new powers. New York's Spanish Harlem is the main setting for the game, which finds itself in the middle of a turf war between a criminal gang, led by the Tinkerer, and an energy corporation.
It's more of an Uncharted: Lost Legacy in terms of size and scale, but it's a brilliant title for showing off the speed of the PS5 SSD, the graphical power of the new machine, and just a really brilliant new Spidey game.
Astro's Playroom
A bit like The Playroom on PS4, Astro's Playroom arrives pre-installed on your PS5 and aims to show off the unique features of the PS5 controller. However, it's not just a tech demo, it's also a super adorable platformer featuring some of our favourite dinky robots as they travel across various themed words. It'll take you through key parts of the PS5, introduce you to the pad, and even run you through a brilliant tour of PlayStation history. Cute, and educational!
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Sackboy's latest adventure also arrived as one of the PS5 launch games. It's an all-new 3D platforming adventure for our knitted pal, which you can experience solo or with friends in co-op. There isn't the creative element usually featured in LittleBigPlanet titles, but don't fear because there's always Dreams for that. But what you do get is a down-right brilliant platformer full of creative ideas and top-notch voice acting talent, for a Sackboy adventure you won't soon forget.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Assassin's Creed Valhalla - despite also being released on Xbox consoles, PC, and PS4 - is one of the best PS5 launch games Sony's next-gen console has to offer. A beautifully realized Viking Britain lets you play as warrior Eivor, who arrives in England with the intent of settling their clan. You'll have to fight, bargain, deal, and play at politics to make this new life work though. It's quite the romp through the Dark Ages.
Demon's Souls
The recent Demon's Souls remake was another PS5 launch game, and boy did it do a good job of showing off just how pretty the best PS5 games can be. It looks absolutely gorgeous, all the locations and enemies have been recreated down to a T. A brutal hellscape where you can die around every corner has never looked so pretty!
Godfall
Godfall, the brand new fantasy IP from Counterplay Games and Gearbox, is another PS5 launch game. It's a looter shooter that focuses on intense action, set in a mysterious world. It's a solo experience that can also be experienced with two friends online cooperatively. Blending knights, arcane magic, you'll explore a world that's been split into the four different elemental realms - water, fire, air, and earth. But of course, the focus is on loot and upgrading too.
Bugsnax
Probably the quirkiest title in the PS5 launch games lineup, Bugsnax puts you in the role of an investigative journalist. You're sent to the village of Snaxburg to investigate the Bugsnax phenomenon, where cute creatures eat even cuter bugs that then turn them into food. You'll be trapping the critters, photographing them, helping out the residents in the village and trying to get the scoop. It's from the same people that created that deliciously mad Octodad, so they know how to do weird and do it well.
Watch Dogs Legion
The latest in Ubisoft's hacking sim was also another PS5 launch game, and also weirdly another title set in the UK. You exist in a London ravaged by the post-Brexit society, where technological advancements mean drones swarm the sky, and all the citizens are very unhappy indeed. Thankfully, that means they're ripe for the picking into your Dedsec crew, and literally any NPC can become part of your team.
Dirt 5
It's almost comforting to know that as part of the PS5 launch games lineup you'll have the option of tearing across the mud in a variety of vehicles in Dirt 5. With tracks set in some of the most iconic routes around the world, you'll be experiencing the most immersive off-roading experience the series has offered to date. Plus, there's a brand new campaign mode narrated by Nolan North and Troy Baker too.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the latest instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, was a PS5 launch title thanks to PlayStation's ongoing partnership with the series. With a campaign set during the early 1980s during the Cold War, it's centered around the pursuit of the alleged Soviet spy Perseus. There's multiplayer too of course, including new modes and map dynamics, along with the all-important Season Pass.
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
Dante and co. are back, because a remastered version of Devil May Cry 5 has been available on PS5 from launch. Officially titled Special Edition, it looks especially gorgeous with vivid colours and the rapid combat we've come to expect from the series.
Fortnite
Was there any surprise? Not really, but one of the biggest games of all time has been available on PS5 from launch. It's currently on Unreal Engine 4 but will later be ported to Unreal Engine 5 down the line. Victory royales from day one, baby!
