PS3 light gun adopts Wii tech
Sensor bars the solution for getting Guncon 3 to work on hi-def televisions
SoTime Crisis 4 is coming to PlayStation 3. But considering traditional light guns work with LCD televisions, how are we going to play it?
The Japanese site Gamewatch reveals the answer; Namco's new Guncon 3 is adopting a Wii-like sensor bar tech to get its shootouts working on PS3.
To get it to work, two markers are required on the left and right sides of your television screen. A camera inside the muzzle of the gun then detects the position of the markers, just like a Wii Remote.
There are six buttons on the Guncon 3 and two analogue sticks, one is the "sub-grip" you hold with your left hand and another is on the barrel of the gun.
At this point, we can only hope the Guncon 3 is less of a guesstimate than the Wii Remote, where accurate shooting is concerned.
Amusingly North American and European markets will be getting an orange version of Guncon 3, to stop them fromholding up corner stores, while more trusting Japanese gamers will get a blue one.
