PS3 launch: This was waiting
We chart the PS3 story from E3 2005 to this week's Euro launch
March 2007
With PS3 now so close we could almost touch it - well, we actually could, having had one in the office for a while - a new wave of interest was building, focused mainly on a mysterious logo for a service called Home. And as Phil Harrison revealed that PlayStation 3 would actually handle more than 1000 PS2 games at launch, and Sixaxis was perhaps set to rumble after all, we found ourselves excited about PS3 again.
So, with a new advert bringing back old memories,Network games priced reasonably cheaply, Home confirmed to remarkable effect and a new star emerging in the shape of LittleBigPlanet, the troubles of 2006 look suddenly insignificant. Phil Harrison certainly believes that's the case, anyway.
Above: We're excited about Home, but LittleBigPlanet could be Sony's true masterstroke
So, after two turbulent years, PlayStation 3 will finally touch down in Europe in a matter of days. Will the ride be smoother from now on? Only time will tell...
