PS3 Home coming along slowly?
New beta build 0.7.7 released, more basic features added
Nov 28, 2007
A new beta version of the PS3's Home virtual network application has been released to those lucky enough to get on the beta test.
The Home beta has now reached version 0.7.7, but surprisingly the update mostly just adds many of the basic features Sony has actually shown working before. Things like going into your patio, uploading your own pictures for use in your Home space and the option to launch games directly from Home are only just being added to the beta. And even that last one still isn't functioning properly, say testers.
A totally new building has been added too, but it's unfinished and unable to be entered, and the cinemas have been moved to a new spot. Oh, and Europe, the US and Japan have finally been given their own individual servers, according to PSU.
Home was originally planned to be out around this time, but at the Tokyo Game Show in September, Sony delayed its launch to spring next year, stating: "We want to make sure that we have a range of services which can be satisfactory to our users throughout the world."
But with these basic features only just being added now, it looks like progress is a little slow, to say the least.
