Well, it had to be done. The greatest football action game in existence has finally been granted a managerial spin-off and, best of all, it won't cost you an arm and a leg.Sadly, the bargain price-tag reflects the fact you're not investing in a fully-fledged rival to the likes of Football Manager, Champ Man and LMA here.

Mind you, all the hallmarks of a top management game have been called up to PES Management's squad - including detailed tactics, training and a slightly long-winded transfer system. There's just not enough depth to make this a genuine title contender.

On the upside, the game can be very clever indeed at times. Highlights include the tactical walkthrough you'll receive from your coach after he's scouted your next opposition. You can even create group plays to take advantage of your strengths during a game.

The problem is, seeing AI players going head-to-head only increases your desperation to pick up a joypad and take direct control of your charges. And while that shows how tasty the match engine is, it also means you'll soon feel as frustrated as Van Nistelrooy on a cup final bench.

Anybody fancy another go on PES5's Master League, then?
