Valve has given Portal 2 a stone cold, uber official, 'we pinky swear' release date of April 21, 2011. And as usual, EA has signed on to make sure the sequel will also be available in stores to purchase for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
As per today's official announcement, EA has again partnered with Valve to distribute its eagerly awaited sequel to brick and mortar retailers at the same time it is made available for PCs and Macs on Steam. Which – for those in the back - was absolutely, 100%, officially declared to be April 21st, 2011.
Portal 2 takes place hundreds of years from the first game and finds Chell fresh from stasis exploring new areas in the now abandoned Aperture Science facility. A new cooperative mode will also see players adopting the role of two puzzle-solving Aperture robots which, judging fromour brief Pax 2010 impressions, may be worth the price of admission alone.
Portal 2 is honest-to-goodness, really coming out on April 21st, 2011. Unless there's a rift in the Valve-time continuum.
