How to get the Dusk Form Lycanroc in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
If you're about to start playing Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you might be wondering how to get your hands on one of its exclusive Pokémon, the Dusk Form Lycanroc. We've already had the Midday and Midnight Forms in Pokémon Sun and Moon, but this new duo of games adds a third Form to this rock-type Pokémon.
Everyone's coveting it because Ash's Rockruff evolves into the Dusk Form Lycanroc in the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime series. And who doesn't want to be like Ash when they're playing a brand new Pokémon game?
How to get the Dusk Form Lycanroc
Unfortunately for anyone who isn't super organised, there's only one way to the Dusk Form Lycanroc for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Only special Rockruff can evolve into this exclusive form, and you can't catch these special Rockruff in normal gameplay. Instead, the special Rockruff is an exclusive pre-order bonus for anyone who put their money down early for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Anyone who did pre-order will be able to download their special Rockruff from the Nintendo Network anytime between Friday November 17, 2017 and Monday January 10, 2018.
All they'll need to do then is evolve said Rockruff and you'll be greeted with this exclusive evolution form.
What makes the Dusk Form Lycanroc so special?
It's not just that the Dusk Form Lycanroc looks different to its Midday and Midnight Forms, with its green eyes and orange fur. It's also capable of learning both Accelerock and Counter, which are moves that can only be used by the Midday and Midnight Forms respectively (other Pokémon can learn them of course, but Midnight form can't use Accelerock and vice versa).
The Dusk Form Lycanroc also gets a different ability to the other forms. It gets Tough Claws, which greatly increases the power of any moves that make direct contact with an enemy Pokémon.
All Lycanroc get a unique Z-Move in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
All three of the Lycanroc forms can use the new Z-Move in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which is known as Splintered Stormshards. Just make your Lycanroc learn the move Stone Edge and then give it the Z-Crystal Lycanium Z. It, of course, causes damage, but also removes terrain effects. That makes it particularly useful against Tapu Koko and the other Divine Beasts, as they all make use of various terrains to work against you.
