Pokemon Sword and Shield complete guide and walkthrough to become the Champion of Galar
All the Pokemon Sword and Shield guides you'll need for your playthrough
Hammerlocke Gym
Enter the gym and prepare your team, because this is the Dragon-type gym, although it's not exclusively Dragon Pokemon. As you can see from the list of trainers below, half the Pokemon you come up against aren't Dragon-type, so plan your party accordingly.
There's no special mission to complete here, each battle is simply a duo battle instead of a solo one. So you'll have two Pokemon in play at any one time; be wary of this when relying on moves like Earthquake.
Gym Trainer Sebastian (Duo)

Sliggoo | 45 | Dragon |

Gym Leader Raihan
While Raihan is meant to be a Dragon-type master, as you can see from the three previous battles, that isn't as strict as other gyms. Gigalith is just Rock-type, while Sandaconda is only Ground-type. As such, you'd do well with a Water and/or Grass-type to support some Dragon-types in your party. When Raihan uses Duraludon, make sure you're reviving constantly because it deals some serious damage when Gigantamaxed.
Pokemon | Level | Type |
---|---|---|
Gigalith | 46 | Rock |
Flygon | 47 | Ground/Dragon |
Sandaconda | 46 | Ground |
Duraludon | 48 | Steel/Dragon |
After you defeat Raihan, head to the Hammerlocke train station and take the train up to Wyndon.

Give me a game and I will write every "how to" I possibly can or die trying. When I'm not knee-deep in a game to write guides on, you'll find me hurtling round the track in F1, flinging balls on my phone in Pokemon Go, pretending to know what I'm doing in Football Manager, or clicking on heads in Valorant.
