Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver invade NY
This Pokewalker was made for Pokewalking
The latest Pokemon games, HeartGold and SoulSilver, are scheduled to be released next week, and Nintendo is getting the PR hype train in motion with another Times Square event like the Wii Fit one from 2 years ago. Nintendo is inviting fans and gamers out to the Times Square Toys R Us to try out the game, but more interestingly they’re showing off the new Pokewalker as well. Participants will apparently get to follow a path made from Pikachu’s footsteps around the Broadway Plaza in Times Squareand see the Pokewalker in action.
The Pokewalker is a pedometer that allows the player to transfer Pokemon into the ball and boost their happiness and experience by simply walking around. Surprisingly this isn’t the first time a pedometer has been mentioned in the same sentence as gameplay; Nintendo released Personal Trainer: Walking last year which also incorporated a pedometer. Everyone knows how a pedometer works, but what you’re failing to grasp is that this pedometer is colored like a Poke Ball!
So don’t be surprised if you see a bunch of rabid kids screaming and pacing around in circles in Times Square this Sunday. HeartGold and SoulSilver hit retail this Sunday, March 14th in North America.
