Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - hands-on

Did you realize that the summer movie season begins next month? That means gigantic $200 million action-adventure sequels ready to decimate your eyeballs with spectacular CG eye-candy. One of these sequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End will conclude not only the cliffhanger from last year’s extremely complicated Dead Man’s Chest, but the entire trilogy as well. And while we could melt our brains trying to fathom how Jack Sparrow makes it out of the Kraken or why we have two British villains, we’d rather clue you in on the tie-in videogame that we recently demoed.

In our lastpreviewwe mentioned Pirates’ stunning visuals which shine through in almost every aspect of play - clothing animation, sword collision detection, Davy Jones’ squid beard and Jack’s drunken swagger- which is attributed to the fact that Disney has been able to share much of Industrial Light and Magic’s digital assets. This should shiver your timbers because ILM just earned an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects on Dead Man’s Chest. Oh and Pirates is one of the first games to take advantage of Xbox 360’s 1080p resolution after the firmware update. Pretty indeed.
