Pineapple Express director to remake Suspiria
It's finally happening
David Gordon Green wants to tackle Dario Argento's 1977 horror classic as his next venture.
Whilst some sticky rights issues have delayed the project until now, it's no secret that Suspiria has been Green's holy grail for night on three years.
And now word comes that director Argento has finally released the rights, giving Green the go-ahead to start production this year.
Talking to The Playlist about his ambitions for the project, he admitted that his version "doesn't follow the trend of traditional horror movies" but added that it will "remain quite faithful" to the original.
Green also quashed the previous rumours of Natalie Portman's involvement in the project: "I want an unknown cast, and I think she's too old for it."
Although the director has proven his prowess with more somber pictures (See: All the Real Girls ), it could still be tough baiting studio interest on this one.
Still, following the Oscar success of remake-in-all-but-name Black Swan, now's as good a time as any to try to sell the script.
